Women give to education. Women in rural Kenya earn little, sometimes less than a $1 a day, but they come early and line up to give to education. They understand and know children deserve a good education. Over 100 students from several villages received scholarships to pursue high school education when these women met.
Sharing knowledge with women and children. Women travel to meet other women, see how they live, go to their places of work and share knowledge. They inspire the next generation. It is this mutual partnership in development that women are best known for.
Women in music, art and dance. In rural areas, women weave their own dancing sisal skirts. Their music entertains during fundraisers for education, weddings and cheers the winning team in sports. The words in their music educates the young, teaches and warns the wayward youth, and continues to provide wisdom to the old to stay wise!
Let us celebrate women in our lives not just today, not just this month but every day.
