Famine Response Planning

Rising food costs have raised school fees, by a recent calculation we need to raise an additional $700 to pay the January scholarship fees (we currently have 15 scholarship recipients). We have also received requests for additional assistance. Because of this Janet Johnson and I met with Rev. Peter DeVeau and Rev. Sally Carlson yesterday to begin framing a response to the famine in East Africa. Key ideas that came out: we would like to keep kids in school during the famine and we would like to make our efforts consistent
with sustainable community development. We brainstormed several possibilities and are going to research them before deciding on a final plan of action. More information to come.
