A Books and Bricks Global teacher helps the carpenter install library shelves at the new Alden Ray Library.
Teacher Mwikali, a Books and Bricks Scholar says, ‘I graduated with a degree in Mathematics and Geography. I have received my registration from the Teachers’ Service Commission. I can now teach in any high school in the country and get paid.
Teacher Cosmas says, ‘I have completed my 3rd year. I have been allocated to teach at a prestigious rural boys’ boarding school in the coming new term’.
Teacher Millicent says, ‘I start teaching humanities in high school in May. This month, I will complete my studies at Kenyatta University!
In rural areas, teachers wake up earlier. They walk farther. And they teach longer hours. Their students struggle more to succeed academically. In some instances, they deliver babies on their way to school! These teachers are the fabric of the community. They provide much needed social-economic support. Finally, the teachers provide spiritual and interpretation of natural occurences to their communities.
